- SARTopo Map – Really good map that gives an “easy to grok” map that shows the streets, etc. This is my favorite map of all.
- FireMappers 2D Map – One of the better overall maps I’ve seen.
- FireMappers 3D Map – Very cool map that sort of gives a Google Earth view with fire overlays.
- GIS Surfer Map – Very intriguing map I came across. You can choose a number of different base layers and displays.
- AirNow Fire & Smoke Map – Really good map for seeing how thick the smoke is, and where it’s traveling.
- Siskiyou County Evacuation Map – Shows all the local road closures related to the fire.
- Windy.com – Great source to see the current and future wind directions.
- AirNow Fire & Smoke Map – Shows active fires, and also the current smoke amount and directions.
- “Purple Air” Air Quality Map – Shows how clean or dirty the air is.
- CalTrans Traffic “QuickMap” – Enables you to see the traffic conditions and rod closures, and select from various viewing options.
MISC COOL LINKS
- Area Webcams by Alert Wildfire – Choose from any number of webcams with different views of the fire.
- 10-Day Mt. Shasta Weather Forecast – Wunderground’s 10-day page. Also includes a wind direction and speed graph.
- Sign up for Code Red Alerts –This is where you can sign up to get emergency texts sent to your phone.
- Trinity/ Shasta County Resources – This page has lots and lots and lots of resources.
- YubaNet’s Fire News – Updates on all the fires, with links to each fire.
- Fire Safe Council of Siskiyou County Fire Links – A list of fire-related websites and phone numbers for Siskiyou County and the surrounding area.
- National Interagency Situation Report – A daily report with an overview of new fires, large fires, uncontained fires, and more info. It’s in PDF format, but will likely show up in your browser.
SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS
- Mount Shasta Neighborhood Watch (Facebook) – A good Facebook group for people living in Mt. Shasta and the immediate area.
- Siskiyou Alerts – Fire & Emergency (FB) – A Facebook group with good up-to-date info.
- Siskiyou County Grapevine (FB) – A Facebook group for the entire county. There is good fire info in this, but it’s mixed in with tons of other posts.
- Siskiyou County of Emergency Services (FB) – Facebook page for their office. Seems to have the most recent updates on evacuations, road closures, etc.
